Viqueen at the wheel (4.55)
video

Audio

Music and lyrics written by Rob van Dijk.

During the Dark Ages, the Vikings visited many European coasts for over two centuries. No human being ever lived that long, so my guess is that there must have been Viqueens as well, although they were never mentioned in any history book.

Recorded at the “Amfitheater”, Vrijhof, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, June 26th, 2005. All tracks recorded by Wilfred Odding and Harry Bartelink. Mixed by Harry Bartelink. Photography by Elke Hesseling and Quin Hoogers.

The uilleann pipes heard on this CD were made by Marc van Daal who kindly lent them on the spot when tropical heat in the theatre muted my pre-Famine set.

Acknowledgements:
My daughter Daphne who first came up with the idea of this recording session.
Maura, for checking some song lyrics on this CD.
Tom, for organizing the recording session.
Conny, for her kindness and endurance when modeling for the sleeve photo.

"I have heard my song and I think that you can earn a lot of money from that special melody. I am very proud to be part of that. But the pipes is not me, sorry for that"

"You have been keeping this singer-songwriter talent quiet over the years.... Big surprise for me to hear you.... The song on track 4 is really quite nice! Your voice seems much stronger in the final songs - maybe some anger there? You have a good few Tommy Reck tunes on it too!! Well done!! So you must be delighted to get it all finished and out.... it's a nice feeling to get that accomplished!! So congratulations on the new CD and well done, Rob. May you sell many, many copies....!! Keep pumping"

"I got your CD the other day and I have listened to it a lot since. Well done! It's very nice, I like it a lot. It was interesting to read your sources and your inspiration for the tunes"
